Rhet Anyalsis

The computer science hallway is part the newest part of the new science wing. Walking in from the already bright wing, the hallway is a lot lighter then its surrounding areas. Compared to the old dungeon it seems as though getting light into the area was a major concern in the designing. The area had many tables and chairs, some even obviously dragged from other areas. Even at off hours most of the tables were filled. The air smelled of the aroma of food that drifted in from Charlie's place. There was chattered littered with the sound of dice rolling. That added to the glow of computers screen made it as if this was some sort of nerd-cave. The addressing of the light could be a reference to the fact that nerds do not get enough sun.

Snow Day Assignment

    I am usually a pretty determined person. According to my mom. I am straight up stubborn. I don't really ever give up on something I have started unless I have succeeded. However, recently I have had a “Magical Black Man” moment. In this moment I was thinking about giving up on something but it was deeper then that. It was phase six out of seven for an interview for a job I would start after graduation. The process had been going on for a while at that point. It was late December and I had started it in late September. The last phase before getting the final on-site interview was a take home programing problem. I started working on it. I wrote a program that could solve the problem. It was slow. It took three hours to compute. I wasn't sure what do. I needed to get it to run in a reasonable amount of time. I was thinking having it just be precomputed and have the program just output he answer rather than computing. It wasn't stated in the problem that doing so was disallowed. I was stinking it could be a trick problem. The truth was that was a lie I told my self, it was a cop out. I was scared of achieving. Its ironic, I worked so hard in college so I would be able to get a great job after gradation. I had the opportunity for the perfect after college job and I wanted to fail on purpose. Succeeding meant having to face change I talked to my adviser, the chair of the Computer Science department, Dr.Klump. I didn't mention by fears of change. Just my idea that it could be trick question. He responded that obviously it was not. The company writes very fast software. The point of the programing test was to see if I could write optimized code. Dr.Klump very much inspired me to keep going. I did not have to take the job. I owed it to myself to show them how good I was. I did. I spent a few hours into the dawn optimizing it. I knew I am a good programer. I had to show it. I was going to  show it. It worked. I got the on site interview. I found out my program was the fastest in applicant ever turned in. It went from running for three hours to solving the problem in four milliseconds. I got the job. I am starting in June. I could not have done it with out Dr.Klump. I had the ability to do it all along but Dr.Klump lit my flame. In the Computer Science department Dr.Klump is scene as a sort of mystic. No matter a students problem he some how seems to have the solution they need.

Passage based free write

"My Dear Fellow Clergymen,

While confined here in the Birmingham city Jail, I came across your recent statement calling our present actives "unwise and untimely". Seldom if, ever do I pause to answer criticism of my work and idea... But since I feel that you are men of genuine good will and your criticisms are sincerely set forth, I would like to answer your stamen in what I hope will be patient and reasonable terms.”

I found this passage very interesting. This paragraph is obviously the beginning of the letter. I find it is interesting because although it is written as a letter it is obviously more than the conventional letter. It is rather written as a public opinion piece and is merely framed as a letter. The audience of the letter is obviously more than the apparent audience. It was meant to be read by more people than just his fellow clergymen, but rather his general audience. It actually reminds of Beowulf. Unferth is of the most interesting characters in epic literature, the concept of "an heroic fall guy" is one of my favorite ideas in Beowulf. I see parallel between the clergymen and Unferth. I may be reading to deep into this but from a literary perspective the clergymen act as jerks in order for Martin Luther King Jr. to defend his actions. Beowulf had to brag in order to get the "job" in eponymous epic. However he could not come off as cocky. Unferth acted as a jerk and lesser man in order to give Beowulf that opportunity. I feel like the clergymen needed to play a similar role creating a frame in which Martin could address how he think they should continue the fight for civil rights. So even though it seems they are villainous they are playing a role so that Martin could play the hero that was needed at he time.
